BioBuzz Season (2026-27)

Community Engagement

Maker faire UPA

Evergreen Valley College Community Event

At Evergreen Valley College, we engaged with approximately 50-60 people of all ages, including professors, parents, college and school students. We promoted our Summer Workshop by distributing flyers. We brought our basic drivetrain for a fun hands-on driving experience and raised $140 by selling brownies to support our team. Additionally, we learned about the coding and engineering programs offered at Evergreen Valley College and how they relate to robotics.

STEM Zone - Santa Clara Convention

At Evergreen Elementary School, we connected with around 30 families and introduced FIRST/FTC. We also showcased the robot we used in our previous season, and explained what our challenge was about and how our robot participated in it.

Farmer's Market Events

At our local farmer's market, we raised $150 through selling our custom made shirts and tote bags and donations. We passed out flyers advertising our Summer Workshop and explained the parts of our robot and the game for the previous season. We also brought our basic drivetrain for kids to drive around as they learned about FIRST and what we do as a robotics team.

USS Hornet STEM

In the Primrose School of Evergreen – Summer STEM Outreach: Delivered engaging live demonstrations of both FLL and FTC robots to summer program students, sparking excitement and curiosity about robotics. Introduced the fundamentals of FIRST programs, inspiring young learners and their parents with a clear roadmap for starting their own teams and joining the global FIRST community.

Robotics Summer Workshop

During our two-session Robotics Summer Workshop held in June and July 2025, we introduced kids to the fundamentals of programming, hands-on robot building, computer-aided design, and the FIRST robotics program. Through this engaging workshop, we successfully raised $4,500 to help fund our team's robot for the 2025–26 season.

Summer Workshop participants say...
"I liked how it was hands-on and allowed the participants to be involved with the activities. My favorite segment was assembly. One interesting thing I learned was how to attach the wheels and make a chassis." - S.R., 8th grade
"I enjoyed learning in a positive environment and the way that the team taught us" - R.P., 7th grade
"I especially enjoyed the coding and building segments of the workshop. Something interesting I learned about was the invention of mecanum wheels." - A.G., 9th grade
"One thing I liked about this workshop was the CAD segment, and how to use the tools provided in CAD. An interesting thing that I learned in this Summer Camp was how mecanum wheels function." - B.V., 9th grade
